I am a 42-year old husband and father. I was an avid computer gamer and DOF, F-stops and the like were foreign to me until my wife introduced me to photography.

I began shooting during the latter part of March 2010 and quickly became addicted to it. I started this blog to share my journey and to learn along the way. Special thanks to my wife Eng who encouraged me and to all my friends in Blogosphere who shared their knowledge and taught me to further this craft.

dare to be different # 4 - self portrait

as i've mentioned previously , this series is my way of being myself in photography. here you can expect something different from what i normally post.

A most unusual sight! These two guys seem to be involved in some odd, one sided dialogue where one is conversing but the other seems to be dreaming elsewhere! Interesting shot!

Ashley Sisk

I like it. I just bought a wireless trigger for my camera so I could take more creative self-portraits. I always hate pressing my timer and running in front to snap a picture. I'm looking forward to the experiment. I love how your photo pieced together so naturally. I haven't mastered that in PSE.

Serline

Very witty! Makes me want to give it a try myself...

Unless you have a twin...that's you twice! How creative and cool this is! And, pristine photo stitching. Very creative.

Very interesting perspective. Digital photography has so many creative options, it's really fun to experiment with. I love the caption, composition and colors in this theme.

EG CameraGirl

You are very. very clever...that's for sure!

LV

What a neat idea for this post. It is probably just as well we do not know what they are thinking or saying.

Scott Law

Hey Dave, great job on that! Now which one is you??? LOL! I take a risk on putting myself in front of the lens once for fear of breaking it, I certainly wouldn't want to risk it twice.

LadyNoor

Very clever... AND LOL myself reading Scott's comment above!

Indrani

This is interesting, I like the way you did this. :)

I like how you pasted two views of yourself on the bench. The closeness of the brick color is outstanding.

There are two of you! Your ego and your id? Very creative.

Mojo

That's what I call being beside yourself! Great work.

To answer your question on the fireworks shots, I was probably no more than a few hundred yards from where they were launching. The trees between me and them make it look further I think.

Perry

I understand the self portrait experience, but seeing this guy on the right.... I would not trust him were I you, looking at your business like that! :-) Cool shot(s) Dave!

betchai

hahaha, i would like to do this too, but still do not know how, hopefully, with my free time this summer, i would be able to learn something new to improve my photos as well.

@all, thanks for all your generous comments.

@HOOTIN' ANNI, the bricks background is one and original, i used a layer mask to make the second image appear.

Biana

LOl, it's hilarious. Saw this post just now... don't know how I didn't see it the last time I visited your blog. At first sight I thought they were twin brothers, but then I saw the title... lol. Thanks for giving me a good laugh.
