I am a 42-year old husband and father. I was an avid computer gamer and DOF, F-stops and the like were foreign to me until my wife introduced me to photography.

I began shooting during the latter part of March 2010 and quickly became addicted to it. I started this blog to share my journey and to learn along the way. Special thanks to my wife Eng who encouraged me and to all my friends in Blogosphere who shared their knowledge and taught me to further this craft.

looks like an insect: dangerous and fragile ...

More then awesome perspective, Dave!

Two bird posts in a row huh? You must have had a fast shutter speed on this one to almost stop both those props, though I do like it better with the little bit of motion blur that you captured in them. Nice job with the composition and the whiter skies directly above the chopper.

Yikes! Looks like it's about to land on you - brave shot!

Thanks so much for your vote - much appreciated.

What a terrific capture -- as always, Dave! Love the helicopter and I can hear the whap, whap, whap, too! Really cool indeed! Have a super weekend!

This such a neat shot, Dave! I think I can hear the rotors spinning overhead. :)

Cool motion shot - The blur actually makes it look like it's falling!

WOW!!! I have to ask...how close were you? It looks like you were right there as it was about to land. This shot is awesome!

Nice shot, good perspective, but I think you'll find this is a Lynx not an Apache?.....
Thanks for sharing a piece of your world!.....:)

A great shot of something one doesn't see everyday!

I looked at the thumbnail photo and wondered, "What has Dave done this time?" I wasn't thinking helicopter because nothing is whirling. Or is that because it's on its way down? And you're standing under it? Way to give an old lady heart failure, Dave. LOL
Amazing shot. Simply amazing.

Oh man, I REALLY like this one. The motion blur is just right, unusual and unexpected perspective, and you couldn't as for a more spectacular background.

Excellent shot Dave.

Yoshi

Great capture. It must be so loud when taking photo!!!
Have a nice day.

You have posted quite a few pictures since I last visited. Really like your graffiti shot. Great composition on the apache shot. I like how you framed the helecopter in the light diffused by the clouds.

Dramatic, full of action and lovely!

What a perspective! It looks almost dangerous! Great shot!

An action packed sky you had there. Veeery nice blurry blades.

Carolina

You could have fooled me. I only know these things as helicopters ;-) Great shot!

Love this too. I took some almost like this when in San Diego over the Bay. They were everyplace.
