I am a 42-year old husband and father. I was an avid computer gamer and DOF, F-stops and the like were foreign to me until my wife introduced me to photography. I began shooting during the latter part of March 2010 and quickly became addicted to it. I started this blog to share my journey and to learn along the way. Special thanks to my wife Eng who encouraged me and to all my friends in Blogosphere who shared their knowledge and taught me to further this craft. |

But it's an awesome fly! What are you using to get this kind of sharpness in your macros? It's astonishing.
That's an amazing shot. I also love your shot on the homepage of skywatch.
Dave: What is that buzzing around your head. You are featured on SWF today.
Wow, that's an impressive looking fly.
Oh -- My -- Goodness!!
I don't like flies but this is one very amazing shot Dave! Just amazing. You've captured all the minute details.

Fantastic images!! Here from SWF.
All I can say is WOW!
Amazing, I know have to ask which lens and camera was this, knowing perfectly well that if I had the same in my hands the result still will be a blurred picture!
Scary! :O
Really nice pic. What camera and equipment do you use for your pictures?
YIKES, it's humongous!! This really creeps me out! But I love it!!! So much detail, I can count the hairs. Amazing!
Wow - huge and so beautiful in this intimate detail...
That is not just an impressive looking fly, but one totally impressive photo.
You must have an incredible quality macro to get such clarity. Impressive.
How did you get it to hold still long enough to zoom in and take this photo? Fly paper? ;)

I don't know how you do it. Incredible!
All of your photos are amazing. I would love to have some tutorials. I wouldn't even know where to begin on my own.
I actually found you via a comment you made at Pixel Perfect. So glad I found you. I can't wait to poke around and see more of your work.

Wow, empressive!
Although you are a fabulous photographer and this shot is impressive...I am NOT a huge fan of flies...sort of freaked me out, actually! I guess that's another sign that the photo is great.

Hi Dave !
You succéded again !
To take an great scary macro on a fly :)
Have a nice Monday evening !
OK Dave, spill the beans and tell us how you manage to capture such amazing macro shots. I am an entomologist and I need to get some photos like this of my insect collection for a course that I am teaching, so I need to know how to do it. My shots are OK, but they are nothing like this.
Now Dave, this is awesomeness!! What lens are you using in this one? Looks like you are very close and personal with this one. Happy Monday!

Like several others here, I wonder what your camera set up is. Your talent with these sharp macros is amazing!
Thanks for the info Dave. Now I know why you can achieve such amazing shots and I can't! I guess if I want to get shots like that, then I will have to invest some money and a lot of patience!
