I am a 42-year old husband and father. I was an avid computer gamer and DOF, F-stops and the like were foreign to me until my wife introduced me to photography.

I began shooting during the latter part of March 2010 and quickly became addicted to it. I started this blog to share my journey and to learn along the way. Special thanks to my wife Eng who encouraged me and to all my friends in Blogosphere who shared their knowledge and taught me to further this craft.

ysabelle series #2 - man in red

as i've mentioned before, from time to time i'll be posting some of my 7 year old daughter's work. this was taken with her Casio Exilim EX-Z100 and all the tweaking was done by her, from the title down to the colour of her signature.

This is like a postcard!Good for Ysabelle! She has talented teachers (Mum and Dad) and I can only guess what an amazing photographer she might become one day!!

Mojo

She has real talent Dave. Real talent. And with the right guidance (which she'll have to be sure!) she's gonna blow us all away before she's done.

Regarding the USCG helicopter shot, given a choice I would've dialed down the shutter speed and gotten more blur in the rotors, but the thing came up on us by surprise and I didn't have time to tweak anything.

MadSnapper

the apple does not fall far from the tree. looks like she has inherited your talent.

She is talented, your daughter. My 8 year old daughter has a similar camera. She took it with her on her vacation with grandma and grandpa to England. It was really interesting to see her point of view :)

Judy

To really "see" the world at that age is truly amazing!

Kathy

What an empowering experience for your daughter. So many lessons she's learning, not the least of which is a deeper way of "seeing." Bravo to you for putting a camera in her hand.

Very nice job. She'll do very well as she's already got the eye for interesting subject matter and color. Great job!

Fantastic job Ysabelle! Your color choice is beautiful. Too bad an ocean separates us, my six year old son enjoys doing the same thing, you two probably would enjoy taking pictures together!

Good job. Congratulations, dear Ysa! She is fortunate to have talented parents. You guys are very talented and it's no wonder Ysa was able to come up with this pro-looking work.

Hi Dave, Please extend my hello to Engtot, we hardly have time to communicate these days. Hope your Nanay is having a blast touring around. It is always wonderful to have family around. Have fun and Tc, guys! :)

Your daughter did a great job here, Dave. The red tinge works really well.
