I am a 42-year old husband and father. I was an avid computer gamer and DOF, F-stops and the like were foreign to me until my wife introduced me to photography.

I began shooting during the latter part of March 2010 and quickly became addicted to it. I started this blog to share my journey and to learn along the way. Special thanks to my wife Eng who encouraged me and to all my friends in Blogosphere who shared their knowledge and taught me to further this craft.

The softer focus works really well on this one. Gives it an aquatic mood and a "glow" that ultra sharp focus wouldn't.

a beautiful flower, i am not a fan of soft focus. i have poor eyesight and when i remove my glasses this is what i see, a world out of focus. that makes me like sharp and clear better. hope this does not hurt your feelings, it is just my personal preference

That is just gorgeous, Dave. It's so soft and peaceful looking. The B&W version is lovely, too, but this is my favorite.

Looks like the flower has an inner light. Very beautiful :)

Oh wow, amazing how you made it appear as if that lily glows! :)

Is that a real lily? It looks like there's a light in the middle!

both kinds are extremely beautiful! it remembers me to a candleholder: same form, material was nicely cut crystalglass, the candle was pure white ... greetings from Austria!

I went back and forth... and still can't decide which one I like. They look different to me.
