I am a 42-year old husband and father. I was an avid computer gamer and DOF, F-stops and the like were foreign to me until my wife introduced me to photography.

I began shooting during the latter part of March 2010 and quickly became addicted to it. I started this blog to share my journey and to learn along the way. Special thanks to my wife Eng who encouraged me and to all my friends in Blogosphere who shared their knowledge and taught me to further this craft.

Both are beautiful but who posed for you if I may ask.

kri

where did you meet him? I suppose I should avoid the region ... he looks rather dangerous ...
in colour: he looks like out of a film ...
black&white: great expression ...

Rune K

An excellent portrait! As far as I can see, the details are correct. The guy could be one of my ancestors :-)

I can't decide which i like best. they are both so very good, I think I like the color best but then i think i like the black and white. where did you find this guy? you have the most intersting finds...

Rachel

I really like the one in color because of the colors in the borek effect in the background. I love the composition you used in this photo. Nicely done.

I'm sticking with the B&W. I think maybe because the colors might be a little vibrant for the subject? It's nothing I can put my finger on, and it's probably just my fondness for B&W that does it. There's certainly nothing to dislike about either version!

caite

oh, certainly the B&W!

Gemma Wiseman

I love both versions! The details of the chain mail ring beautifully in the black and white version! But love the touch of red contrast in the colour version!

Where did you find this viking?! I prefer the black and white version - there he looks more authentic to me!:-)

jennyfreckles

Yikes, I wouldn't like to tangle with him!

Mustang Sally

Both are beautiful shots.

I prefer the color. It's true I'm not much of a B&W fan to start with ('tho I do understand the drama it can bring to certain subjects) but in this case color just feels more authentic to me. We see life in color.

If I were going for an aged effect with the photo it wouldn't be B&W I would choose, but a faded sepia, but that's just me.

Carolina

His helmet has taken a few beatings. Good that he wore it at the time ;-)

He would love my cowgirls ;-) As you know, I love these 'secretly' taken people portraits.

I really like the colour version, too! The background green really matches the red and silver of his clothes. I'm in love with this picture!

Jeannette StG

Looking fierce there:) And I love his gloves!
